University of Hertfordshire Chilli Cook-off!

Saturday, 14 June 2014 – 11:00am to 3:00pm

On Saturday 14th June 2014, at the University of Hertfordshire Family Fun Day, up to 20 teams will compete from 11am – 3pm to become the very first University of Hertfordshire Chilli Cook-off Champion and qualify for the 2014 UK Final!!

Teams have 4 hours to cook a gallon of chilli from scratch using uncooked ingredients.  Each team’s Chilli will be judged by our panel of Chilli experts. Marks will be given for aroma, appearance, consistency, taste and aftertaste (the bite!). The team with the highest overall score wins!

Entry fee is £10 per team (teams can be made up of any number of people). First prize is £200, second prize £50!!

Don’t forget to check out the rules tab for more information on competing and what you’ll need to bring with you. Remember we can probably lend you some equipment but we need plenty of notice!!

The winner of the Grand 2014 UK Grand Final will win a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada including flights and accommodation to represent the UK and compete in the Chilli section of the World Food Championships!! The prize purse for the Chilli competition is a whopping $25000!
